Japanese Textiles Talks - A hands on experience with the chance to dress up
All of my talks offer a unique opportunity to see vintage Japanese textiles close up. My collection includes many unique and inspiring textile items that are rarely seen outside of Japan.

All of my talks feature real Japanese textiles and my own creative work. I don't use a slide projector!

An audience member at a recent talk described her experience as:

"Better than the V&A."

Sashiko and Japanese Country Textiles
A must for fans of all things indigo, sashiko, kasuri ikat, boromono (rag cloths) and country clothing.

Includes vintage sashiko from around Japan and a chance to dress up as a Japanese farmer or famer's wife.

"My most popular talk."

Introduction to Japanese Textiles and Kimono
A wide ranging look at kimono, obi and other textiles, formal and informal:

  • From brocade fabrics stiff with gold threads
  • To stencilled yukata cottons.

Prepare to be inspired by the colours, patterns and textures of Japan.

Japanese Textiles for Special Occasions
This talk focuses not only kimono, but various textile items for festivals and ceremonies throughout the year.

Hear about the traditions behind the fabrics, their designs and their symbolism.

Kimono in Fashion - The 20th Century
Kimono follow fashion trends just like non-Japanese clothing!

From Art Deco and fifties style to more contemporary trends - retro mania abounds.

Talks About My Own Creative Work And Experience
A series of talks that I hope will inspire your own creative endeavours.

Travels With A Bag Lady
"You can never have too many bags," should be my motto.

Meet the bags from my books, their prototypes and variations, with the stories of how they were made and where they've been!

From Paint To Stitch
Doing things in reverse, how I began as a painter and printmaker and fell in love with textiles. Includes my quilts and art work.
